State vs. Mann

I find this historical supreme court case to be very interesting because it shows how different things were during times of slavery. In this case,
Mann shot a slave for trying to run away who did not belong to him. As a result, he was charged but only received a fine of 10$. Then, even though today this would be considered attempted murder, Mann thought the fine was wrong and attempted to appeal it. He destroyed someone else property and in the process almost killed someone. This case blows my mind because of how little care for human life these people displayed. It's a great example for how much the times have changed from the time of slave trade until now. Attached is a great link with more detailed information on the case.
